Drammen city (pronounced as: drδmn) is the capital of Buskerud fylke (county) lays in south-eastern Norway. Located at the junction of the Dram River with Dram Fjord, southwest of Oslo, the site was first settled in the 13^th century as two separate communities, Bragernes and Strømsøy. Each was granted common town privileges in 1715. In 1811 they merged with Tangen to form the present city.

Drammen is a commercial and fishing port and a trade and industrial centre. Manufactures include forest products, plastics, textiles, leather goods, and beer. (1995 pop. 52,755)
