Drammen
Theatre is a cultural jewel.
At this theatre, you can
see it all: shows, dancing, ballet, opera, operetta, pop concerts,
children' and family performances - you're really spoilt for choice! Both
professional and amateur performers spin their magic on the stage, amidst
the beautiful architecture of this 1870’s building. The theatre
actually burned down in 1993, but was soon reconstructed. The rebuilding
work was so flawless that it won the Europa Nostra award in 1997, and the
theatre provides the perfect setting for an unforgettable theatrical
experience. The
Spiral-tunnel with the open-air museum at the top of the hill and a
wilderness walk up Kjøsterudjuvet - the "Grand Canyon" -
are also among the great attractions. It
is not only the rich artistic and cultural life of the Valley of Artists,
which has been conscientiously preserved for the generations to come. The
people of the valley are also keenly aware of their
Drammen
offers a range of excursion possibilities: a guided town walk, the wealthy
merchants’ estates with their parks and well-preserved mansions and
more. The
city is blessed with beautiful, year round, well maintained recreation
areas. That's probably why Drammen won the "Outdoor Council of the
Year" award in 1997! |
