Budapest - Culture

Entertainment, Nightlife and Sport

While Budapest isn't a city famed for it's nightlife, the combination of a first rate public transport system and cheap prices make it one well worth exploring after dark. For those after a dose of culture, a visit to the city's majestic State Opera House makes for an unforgettable evening, while Budapest's love affair with classical music ensures that orchestras and venues are of the highest standard.

However, if you're more interested in Techno than Tchaikovsky, we give the low-down on the best (or worst) clubs to visit, while a comprehensive cinema guide is also included for filmgoers. There are also plenty of other ideas for a fun night out, ranging from theatres and jazz venues to casinos and rock/pop events.

And don't forget our dedicated sport page which covers everything from Hungarian football to Formula 1 motor racing. Information on clubbing in Budapest can be found by clicking on Bars and Pubs

Forthcoming Events

In addition to our main entertainment pages, we've also been busy updating a list of forthcoming events in Budapest for the period between 2004 and 2006. In addition to the many  celebrations on Hungary's becoming a full EU member which will be taking place, long established events such as the Budapest Spring Festival, St.Stephen's Day and Hungarian Formula 1 Grand Prix will help ensure that regardless of when you travel, lots will be happening in Budapest over the course of the years.
