Arnhem
Arnhem
is one of the most fascinating cities of Holland and has everything
necessary for making your stay unforgetable. Whether you enjoy culture, or
walking or cycling, whether you want to visit one of the larger
attractions, or just want to shop or go out, then Arnhem is the place for
you.
Wartime
memories
Arnhem knew difficult times during the war. The Rhine bridge played a key
role during the Battle of Arnhem (‘A Bridge too Far’). There
are many reminders of this period in Arnhem. Those who want to know more
about the period ’40 - ’45, can visit the museum of the same
name in Arnhem. Those interested in the period of Dutch colonisation of
the East Indies should visit the Bronbeek Museum in Arnhem.
Suggestions
-
Burgers’
Zoo
Every day is different in Burgers’ Zoo, every day means the
whole year through an unforgetable adventure. That speaks for itself
with more than 3000 animals! And if the weather is bad then there is
always Burgers’ Bush and Burgers’ Desert. Unique
covered-in natural areas that you certainly must visit!
-
Dutch
Open Air Museum
At the Dutch Open Air Museum you can travel on foot or take the old
tram through 250 years of stirring history. As you walk or take the
tram through the beautiful wooded museumgrounds you will discover that
the past is never over!
Shopping
in Arnhem
Arnhem
is the fifth largest shopping centre in Holland, and certainly lives up to
its name. It’s pleasant to shop here, as much in the larger shopping
streets as in the small alley ways.
Shopping
is not only enjoyable, but also very economical if you shop TAX-free.
Visitors from outside the European Community have a right to reimbursement
of their VAT when they spend a minimum of NLG 300 in one shop on one day
and export the goods within 3 months of purchase. Keep a look out for the
shops bearing the "Tax-Free For Tourists" logo.
