Landscape Canals in Ameland

 

Ameland is easy to travel in and most locals are very friendly and speak fluently English. The towns are still surrounded by canals and castle walls. The endless flat landscape inspired the nation's early artists to sketch the stretches of unbroken scenes of the breath-taking landscapes of the horizons.

A dyke The dykes were built 100s of years ago, and occasionally threaten to give way.
