Paralia
Katerinis

Paralia
Katerinis is a cosmopolitan beach, with clean sand and
friendly shallow sea,
stretching for many kilometres. It has been
being awarded the European Blue Flag for many years. Wide and sandy, it
attracts a great number of visitors every
summer.
With the imposing
existence of Mount Olympus in the
vicinity, paired with
Pieria, the mountain
housing the Muses in antiquity, Paralia is also a good
starting point to visit all the sights of the hinterland of the
county. Vergina,
where the tomb of the Great
Alexander's father, King Phillipos, together with more macedonean
tombs, is also a short bus ride away. The sight
of the golden diadema,
funeral present to the great dead King, a masterpiece of
goldsmithing of all Ages, is not to be missed.
There
are harbour facilities
for yacht and small craft
and a
vast number of modern hotels of all categories, rooms to rent, many
restaurants and taverns offering International
and Greek cuisine,
plentiful shops, sea sports, important cultural displays as well as
a great variety of night clubs.
Situated just
eight kms from Katerini, it is easily
reached from The National Motorway E75 (Junctions: Katerini or
Korinos) and from the recently completed coastal road from Olympic
Beach (Katerinoskala) to Nea Agathoupoli. It is also serviced by the
railway from Salonika to Athens (Station:
Katerini).
