About Gibraltar

Located at the entrance of the Mediterranean. Its strategic location and history has made The Rock of Gibraltar a well known symbol of solidity and strength.

Although connected to the Spanish mainland by a sandy isthmus, since 1704 it has been a British territory and is a member of the EU under the British Treaty of Accession.

Gibraltar is largely self governing and has a solid economy.

Today, in a more peaceful world, the emphasis is on offshore finance and tourism rather than the military past.
