Tübingen is a little student town south of Stuttgart and near to the French border and the black forest. It is also a graffiti town in which certain parts of the town are covered with graffiti. Most of it is political in nature.

The botanical gardens - 12,000 plants from almost every habitat on earth attract 120,000 visitors to the Botanical Gardens of the university each year. Visitors can take a "mountain trip" into the alpine biotope, hike through the ecological Swabian Alp section, or rest in the rhododendron grove of the East Asian section. The Tropicarium provides tropical and subtropical experiences. This plant paradise is at the same time a site of teaching and research and a showcase of the University forth general public.

Universe of the University of Tübingen has for centuries contributed through its research and teaching to the shaping of the world. the history of research in Tübingen in over 500 years, who wrote poetry here or even on occasion pursued revolutionary ideas .

University Museum, established in 1997 in Tübingen's castle, reveals 80,000 years of cultural history, from the oldest artwork by human beings, through choice specimens from advanced ancient cultures, to the connections between native cultures and colonialism in Oceania. Few universities in Europe have a museum with a comparable spectrum.
