Bad
Homburg Germany is a modern spa with a Roman history in the Taunus
mountain range nearby Frankfurt. The restored Römerkastell (Roman Fort) at Saalburg is about 5km (3 miles) north and has been restored to
its original design. lt was a part of the Roman Limes fortification line, and formed the northern frontier of the Roman Empire. The museum
inside allows an interesting glimpse back to Roman times. The original fort was built in AD120, and could accommodate a contingent of 500
soldiers. The inside looks as though the Romans had just left it: catapults, armouries, shops, houses, temples and baths are all there. The late-awareness of Bad Homburg
is recognizable if one knows that the first tennis club and the first golf club of Germany were founded in Bad Homburg. The nowadays worldwide
spread red sand has its roots in Bad Homburg. The first groundsman of the TC Bad Homburg, Friedrich Becker, had this idea at the end of the last
century and would not have thought that this will also spread in those countries where playing tennis had a completely different significance
than in Germany. - Today's TC Bad Homburg has an absolute top team since 2 years, supported by
Fujitsu : In 1997 the advancement into the
Bundesliga took place. In 1998 the just risen team has become German vice champion. The
Gothic House -Today
this very special building houses Bad Homburg's City Mu Palace
and Park -The Palace is surrounded on three sides by the Park, a typical English garden of
the early 19th century. This beautiful landscape provides the dramatic background required to showcase the Palace as a complete work of art
Kaiser-Wilhelms-Spa
- Built in 1890 and recently lavishly restored, the Kaiser Wilhelm Spa hides the most advanced
technology behind its facade of marble, brass and decorative plaster. "Taking a cure"
at the Kaiser Wilhelm Spa means combining active recreation with the natural healing effects of water, light and earth in the most modern
medical facilities. Our spa guests find rest and relaxation in an atmosphere of classical elegance. |
