Overview of Copenhagen

The Little Mermaid is a life-size statue sitting on a rock in the harbour. It is by many considered a symbol of Denmark, so much that several smaller copies exist around the globe, in places like the Danish colony Solvang in California, on the Florida Keys, Bondi Beach outside Sydney, Australia and somewhere in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil.

Our Saviours Church

This church, located in the Christianshavn area, has a unique spire which is a circular staircase on the outside of the spire. Open for public, it offers a great view to downtown Copenhagen. Sorry, no elevator.

The church was finished in 1696, without the spire, due to low finances. The spire was added in 1740.

Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerod, North of
Copenhagen. One of the the most elaborate
Danish castles, it was build mostly to impress
and not as much as a fortification. It was c
ompleted in 1620.

Kronborg Castle was built to control the
shipping traffic into the Baltic Sea. It was
entirely paid for by the taxes extracted
from passing merchant ships.
