Cecky Krumlov - Culture |
|
Nevertheless Cesky Krumlov does not remain only an historical open-air museum, but it is a living city with the typical and unique offer of cultural and social activities. Any visitor could spend several pleasant days here by discovering the beauties of the town and its surroundings. The town, once the seat of the aristocratic families of Rosenberg, Eggenberg, and Scharzenberg, has now made a name for itself in the minds of the travelling public mostly by the honour of such visitors as Princess Kristina and the successor to the British throne Prince Charles. After 1992 the idea of building a cultural and congressional centre was accepted by the town administration, thus confirming the direction of the town's orientation towards tourism. The present-day town of Cesky Krumlov welcomes about a million visitors yearly. Almost 400 cultural events take place every year but the town also offers the Egon Schile Art Center, activities of the Czech Ceramic Design Agency, and the unique Castle Baroque Theatre, not to mention the exceptionally interesting architecture of the town. Sociological studies have shown that the visitors to Cesky Krumlov return year after year. |
