Stara Zagora is situated in southern Bulgaria. The town was founded on the place of the former Roman settlement of Beroe.
There
are several beautiful parks encompassing the town, namely Ayazmoto, Borova
Gora, Bedechka, Chadar Mogila. In
the vicinity of the town are the Stara Zagora mineral baths, a spa resort,
covered with oak, hazelbush and planted pine forests. The warm water
spring gives the opportunity for conducting healing and rehabilitation
curative activity. The
rich cultural traditions and the spirit of the contemporary creators
maintain an artistic atmosphere, which has always gone together with this
town as old as its name. Today
Stara Zagora is one of the most modern contemporary towns of Bulgaria. It
is an important industrial, cultural and education centre. There is a
number of secondary schools, technical schools and specialized secondary
schools, a lot of Research and Cultural Institutes. There is the Thracian
University in Stara Zagora.
The
city's life style offerings include museums, libraries, art galleries, a
brass band, cinemas, sport stadiums, an equestrian training center, Roman
ruins, and many lovely parks. Eternally green, the Ayazmoto Park dominates

It
is one of the biggest towns in the country, with a population of 150,000
inhabitants. It is situated at the foot of Sredna Gora mountain, 197m
above sea level. The climate of the town is temperate continental with
average annual temperature +13o C. Stara Zagora region is rich in fertile
land. It is a strategic crossroad between the East and the West, the North
and the South.
